Hi

I have had violent hickups for quite some time, now, getting rather anoyed!

They are starting to hurt!

Tried holding my breath, my sister shocked me so much, I jumped about a meter in the air.

Tried drinking water, but it is just sending me to the loo all of the time.

What can I do???

Cheers

Dave

I dont know whether you still have them now but deep breathing and relaxation helps
Try a short meditation, sit in a chair away from everything and do ten deep breathes with your eyes closed let your mind wander to something nice like the sea or a beach on a sunny day and relax let your breathing return to shallow.
Its changing the breathing pattern that clears the air from the diaphragm where it is trapped.

try breathing in and out of a paper bag, that usually does it for me. If nothing else it quietens the hiccups for everyone else around you Smile

Well, thankfully they seem to have gone but I have two new ideas to try next time they come for a visit. I hadn't had them since I was young untill yesterday!

Cheers

Take a mouthful of water and slowly swallow it whilst moving your upper body up and down from the waist. Make the water last more than one bend.

Might need to do this two or three times...no idea why it works but it does.

You'll look ridiculous but it has never failed for me...!!!
