Prompted by the one used for my signature I thought I'd list a few of my favourite 'Bush-isms' from the US president.
His grasp of the English language is usually around it's throat, and the holes that he sometimes digs for himself can be truly amusing!

Go George go!
On industry and employment.

"And so the fact that they purchased the machine meant somebody had to make the machine. And when somebody makes a machine, it means there's jobs at the machine-making place." --George W. Bush, Mesa, Arizona, May 27, 2008

On truth during election campaigns.
"Let me start off by saying that in 2000 I said, 'Vote for me. I'm an agent of change.' In 2004, I said, 'I'm not interested in change --I want to continue as president.' Every candidate has got to say 'change.' That's what the American people expect." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., March 5, 2008

Diplomacy...
"I can press when there needs to be pressed; I can hold hands when there needs to be -- hold hands." --George W. Bush, on how he can contribute to the Middle East peace process, Washington, D.C., Jan. 4, 2008

And assorted other little gems...
"I heard somebody say, 'Where's (Nelson) Mandela?' Well, Mandela's dead. Because Saddam killed all the Mandelas." --George W. Bush, on the former South African president, who is still very much alive, Washington, D.C., Sept. 20, 2007

"I'm going to try to see if I can remember as much to make it sound like I'm smart on the subject." --George W. Bush, answering a question about a possible flu pandemic, Cleveland, July 10, 2007

"Amnesty means that you've got to pay a price for having been here illegally, and this bill does that." --George W. Bush, on the immigration reform bill, Washington, D.C., June 26, 2007

"I'm the commander — see, I don't need to explain — I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president." —as quoted in Bob Woodward's Bush at War

Bush is good, but NOBODY will ever come close to "Yogi Berra"........
"And they pay in cash, which is just as good as money!"

We've seen film actors achieve positions of power. Are we really likely to see footballers there too? Shocked

Southern lawyers are bad enough. Rolling Eyes

Dont complain about Bush, look at the alternatives that are coming up for the US in November.

On the one side, you have someone that goes to the wrong church who is married to someone who doesnt like the country she lives in. His vice presidential candidate is a woman who wears the trousers, married to someone that cant keep his trousers up....

On the other side is a man of British descent, (Scottish or Irish, not sure) that is married to a sweetie that owns a major beer distributors....I believe he is a war hero also...

Well the previous Pope was a Goalkeeper, though I don't know what level of league he played at.

The scene is Poland 1944, a German sentry peers down from his watch tower to see a young Pole trying to escape the camp.
He raises his rifle and draws a bead on the would be escapee, as his finger tightens on the trigger a bright heavenly light blinds him and an unworldly voice says;

"Don't shoot, that man will one day become his holiness the pope, my representative on earth".

"But I must shoot, it is my duty" says the German sentry.

"No! You must obey me and not shoot" said the heavenly voice.

"But if I do not shoot this man and he escapes then I will be punished" said the German, "He may become pope but What then will happen to me?"

After a short pause the heavenly voice says "OK, he will be pope...and you can be next!"
