I remember seeing the first airing of Mason Williams' Classic Gas. It was on the Andy Williams Show and the video to the sound was a 1/2 second flash of all the classic paintings throughout history. That had to be about 1968 as my flatmate and I had rented a big colour television and we watched in glorious 525 line colour.

Loads of Rolling Stones as well....the list goes on and on. Cool

Bring back the sixties....miniskirts...great records not like the rubbish nowadays.....mind you Jean Michel Jarre is good in the motor. Cool

The Monkees.....Im a believer....Last train to Clarksville.....the list is endless as to what you can play in the car. All 60s records for me are the best ever made.
Remember the protest records like Barry McGuire.....Eve of Destruction.He used to be the lead singer of the New Christy Minstrels who had a big hit with Green Green.
There were loads of one hit wonders like.....
Zagar and Evans.....In the year 2525 and....
Napoleon the 23rd.....Theyre coming to take me away ha ha.....to name but a couple....Happy days eh !. Miniskirts...owning your first car...undoing your first girlfriends blouse.....

Oh yeah Telstar 1963. There was a cafe in Torquay that had a jukebox that played film of the artists doing their numbers for 1/- (One shilling)

We all went to cafes then. usually about half a dozen of us with our girlfriends who wore miniskirts ( not torn jeans and combat gear like now.) and we played the jukebox for ages. Rock ola I think was the make of it. 1 record for sixpence and 3 for a shilling. We sat and drank coke all night....now they sniff coke..changed days indeed never to return. I remember my first fag..God I thought I was dying.
A 45 ( for younger folks was a record ) cost 3/8d and I had a Dansette record player. I remember buying a new record and playing it over and over again. must have worn a few out.
My favourite record of all time in the 60s was The Shadows "Theme for young lovers." Went with a cracking bit of gear then..wonder what ever happened to her. Anyway must go to work now. Cool

My sister was a big fan. I also remember Lou Christies 'Lightning Strikes' & probably my all time favourite pop song, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap - Young Girl.

I was quite young during the sixties, but the radio & the stereo were played so often, I got to hear it all.

Just reading these made me wonder - apart from the late 50's and Buddy Holly, was there any decent music other than the 60's? All my cars have 60's cd's in them - I don't play anything else - which drives my son (who is 30) crackers when he has to travel anywhere with me.

On the subject of music, do you know that the Performing Rights Society is tenaciously pursuing small firms to buy a £65 licence if more than one person can hear the radio. Our company has only one permanent employee and we have the radio on to be aware of traffic conditions etc, a non music channel? forget it! they play jingles and that also counts.

Where it may affect us is: Will they make the same rules apply in cars, if you give a colleague a lift, or if the music is playing outside a premises and the window is open so others can hear it? the ramifications are endless.

Just keep the volume down in your garage thats all!!!

Any way they can get money out of you they will try it.....Who are these killjoys anyway.
I also have countless CDs and cassettes from the sixties but a lot I have copied myself from my collection as some of the more obscure ones are not available on compilation albums. There were some weird and wonderful No1 hits then.....how about,,,
