Pigtin,

I used to be a small publisher and some of the manuscripts I had took months to fully edit before going to print! Even then there was sure to be a spelling error or missed punctuation! Perhaps now we should all learn txt spk - hp wthr bttr 4 shw ths wknd - then again, possibly not!!

(hope weather is better for show this weekend)

Apart from anything else, have just painted the car that is going!!!!

I would have agreed with you until I saw that last Sunday's Daily Mail came with a Barry Manilow CD attached Sad

Cool Not really into politics myself because no matter who is in power we still get shafted. Cool

Rick - I agree

Three other forums I go on have fallen apart over arguments in the "Off topic" section. When we are talking about old cars and disagree over something we deal with it in a polite and sensible way - but contributors seem to be incapable of thinking about what they are posting when other subjects are being "discussed".

There are plenty of other forums to discuss politics.

Morning all,

I've been mulling this over, the last thing any forum needs is draconian rules or moderation. I'll probably end up tweaking the description of this category, making it a general (ie non-classic) motoring category, rather than 'anything at all goes', that way hopefully things will remain broadly automotive related, which after all is the aim of the forum, and things will continue in their usually civilised manner.

Politics is fine in itself, but as already mentioned there are plenty of other forums and platforms where general politics can be discussed, forums that probably have a team of people sat in the background, keeping things pointing in the right direction.

And no, this is not burying one's head in the sand.

Thanks for your support ladies and gentlemen Smile

Rick you know my background, and speaking from experience I think you've struck the right balance.

The secret as we all know is respecting each others opinion, but still be able to debate the point in a manner that when the topic eventually comes to a conclusion we move on without animosity to each other because of our differing views.
Gradually things will change as more people join and sadly the balance will eventually shift to the point where you will have to be prescriptive in regard to off-topic content, but in the meantime I'm positive we're all of a type that understands the privilege your web site affords us. Very Happy
