Hi

Been driving a tractor today with CVT (Continously Variable Transmision), it was a Puma 195, quite a strange set up, whilst not new, (The system I mean, the tractor is brand spanking new!) it is most strange, jump up on the seat, and swith on, release the clutch expecting to go, and nothing happens, then you acelerate away. To stop come off the gas pedal, and it comes to a halt, a really good system, for yard work, I think I prefere it over the normal pwershift transmisions.

A little like this.

Cheers

Dave

That reminds me a bit of driving my old Standard 10 with the Standrive transmission, it wasn't CVT, but driving and changing gear without a clutch pedal took a little while to get used to. Great in traffic though, just brake/accelerate as required and it wouldn't stall. Clever system.
