Hello to everyone. I am new to this forum and I hope that someone out there can help me.

A friend of mine is restoring a 1946 Austin 16 and has asked me to help him source a particular part that is giving him some considerable grief getting hold of. This chap is not familiar with computers so I volunteered to try a few searches on his behalf, so here goes.

The part he requires is a rubber moulded gaiter , I think it fits to the gearbox and is cut out to facilitate the different gear positions, I would not be the most technically minded myself and hope that what I have described will ring a few bells.

If anyone can help or put me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

Hi Leamyj

I got my Morris 8 one from Vintage Car Parts;
http://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/

You could also try Scotts Old Rubber, they are in Australia but I have had bits off them , only takes a few days to reach the UK.

Despite its name, the Austin 10 Drivers Club caters for owners of Austin 10hp - 28hp, and they do sell parts (to members). It may be worth asking if they stock this item or can get hold of it.

Hi Rick, sorry for the delay in responding.
Thanks for your help. I have e-mailed the Austin ten owners and await their reply,

To put a closure on this thread, I received today from New Zealand a mint condition gaiter. Thanks to all for your suggestions earlier.
