Bill,

These are known as Ranco valves. You could try searching on that. The only ones I know are in the States.

Its possibly not worth getting it repaired. I've seen quite a few advertised for $75 lately, and they dont seem to be a rare item...

I just googled and found several being advertised. If you cant find any, try Old Air Products or some of the swedish sites. 59 Caddy's are popular here for some reason....

last night I back flushed the heater core and water flowed freely, so the ranco valve cant be stuck, but a vacuum pipe came adrift thats the main feed for the inner flap controls, so this weekend the blower assembly will be coming off.I bought the 1959 Cadillac 62series 4window sedan "flat-top" a year ago on e-bay a lifetimes dreaming and saving and some redundancy pay.Theres not much wrong with the car A/C dosent work either and cross plys are a bit scary. The petrol filter, I discovered was upsidedown ! Thanks for the offer of phone no Ill hold for now.

Yes, know the 66 buick. It was the one with the 425" in it if I am not mistaken. Is that correct?

funnily enough mine had a 401 fitted (that dropped a conrod)and was painted light green, export model I think, entered this country in 1967 , E registration, but the engine I rebuilt and fitted was indeed a 425 (that was painted red)

I've had cars like that myself. I dont know if its the same now, but back then, it used to be horrendously expensive to insure a car with a 5 litre plus engine. So the common thing to do was either a) swear blind to the insurance that it was under 5, or fit a smaller engine. As the 401 isnt under 5, then maybe a previous owner did both!
