A young guy for who I have done a few little jobs for, has just given me a set of books. They are The Modern Motor Engineer by Arthur W. Judge dated 1952. There are five volumes in the set, but he has only handed me four of them, but is sure he has the other somewhere at home. They cover most cars and commercials from the late forties up to 1952. This includes European and American models and gives loads of information about each vehicle. I have spent hours reading them and thoroughly enjoying myself. Smile

Hi
If he can't find the other one: try here
http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?an=Arthur+W.+Judge&bt.x=55&bt.y=19&sortby=3&sts=t&tn=The+Modern+Motor+Engineer

Each volume is available, some singly, some in part sets.
The same author also appears to have done this one;
The Modern Motor Engineer Electrical Diagrams
Judge Arthur W.

Yes, I have a set and really like these types of book. Published just after the war they are full of make do and mend and are real "engineering".

Thanks Penman. I will certainly buy the missing volume if it can't be found. I find them so interesting as they feature all the cars I remember when I first fell in love with the motor car.

I seem to recall different years had different coloured covers, something to bear in mind possibly.
