I realise it's a long shot but it is worth a try
I received an email form Irene regarding a car her father owned.
Quote: | Hello 47p2
Please forgive my intrusion.
I have found a photo of a Rover (16?) which belonged to my dad in the 1960s and I wondered if there was any way I could find out where she is now.
Thanks
Best wishes
Irene

Not coming up on DVLA so likely to have been scrapped in the last 48 years. _________________ Brian

I had checked the DVLA site Brian.
The car looks to be prewar, possibly a 39 model from certain features and if the picture was taken in the early 60s I would say the car was in reasonablly good condition then. You never know, it may well be tucked up in a garage or barn somewhere _________________ ROVER

47P2 - you are more optimistic than me!
The number was first issued in Bedfordshire in April 1939.
But I have just had another thought - if it was in a barn when the DVLA cut off the entitlement to the number unless the old log book was surrendered and a V5 issued, it could now be carrying a re-issued number.
Anybody know if the DVLA can provide the previous number for re-registered classics? _________________ Brian

Thanks for the confirmation of the year Brian, I thought it was around 1939, I have asked Irene for any further information she may have regarding the car _________________ ROVER

It is a great picture Paul.
I can only assume the picture was taken in or around Luton, Bedfordshire as that is where the owners Douglas (aka Fred) Newell and Leslie Matthews resided
The photograph was taken in 1959 and the vehicle paintwork is black
This is all the information I have _________________ ROVER
