What a bunch of wimps!!

I go to Paris at least twice a year and love driving round it - in my Jeep Cherokee, not the Amazon.

All you need to remember is that the space in front of you is yours! If it is empty just go for it.

I even drive round the Arc de Triomphe just for fun, the greatest go kart track anywhere.

I really believe that the French drivers are better than those in the UK, you never see the ditherers in their Nissan Micras (or other small Japanese cars) that cause all the frustration in UK cities. When the lights go green in Paris you set off at maximum acceleration, not sit and think about engaging first gear. check your mirrors, etc etc.

A few years ago I took my son (aged 30) over and as we drove from the hotel to Retromobile, there was a burst watermain at the exit from Place de La Concorde and everything was clogged. The ingenuity of the French drivers was incredible - up the kerbs, over the pavements etc so I joined in and my son was laughing so much he ended up in the footwell!

By the evening the roadworks were complete - just like road repairs in London that take several months!

Sounds like he'd have ended up in the footwell whether laughing or not! Shocked Wink
