I mentioned in another thread that my ex's father used to work for Rolls Royce & he told me that the leather seats were fixed in the workshop & all the staff were encouraged to sit in them when they had their breaks, so that when they were fitted to the car, they were naturally aged. _________________ Don't run your fingers over my truck & I won't run my truck over your fingers!

Yep Elite from the late 50s. The old Elan and Elan plus 2 were similar very nice I think now. Very uncluttered, simple & elegant. |

The choke pull is in the wrong hole and the hand throttle is missing. The choke is now in the right hole but I have not got the throttle. If a later carb was fitted it was not needed but I have fitted an original carb so I have to up the idle to start the engine then reset the idle once warm. |

Thanks for putting me straight, Art. The word on the dash is difficult to make out unless you recognise it.
Not overly sure what this one is, either...
And here's a few custom ones from the rodding world...

Ray,
I owned a Firedome in '65. It had a hemi engine and two speed transmisson. It cost me $25. That was probaly because it didn't have a floor.
The first car could be a 58-ish Mercury. (crown emblem on dash at R/S).

Thanks for posting the 8's dash Nic. Brings back good memories of my sister's first car.

Aw Shucks. I saw the drum speedo and the only car I've every been in with one was a mate's Austin 7. The logo on the steering wheel of the second I thought was either an Oldmobile or Lincoln and I went for Lincoln because I think the Olds has a rectangle plus the cross.

Hi Nic,
The first one is remarkably similar to the 8 but I guess William did draw a lot
of inspiration from the US. Is it Model A?
