This question arrived the other day, but as I've no experience of Renaults I said I'd pop it on here in case anyone has info....

---------------

I find your web site to be very interesting & most helpful to those who drive old bangers. I used
to read "Thoroughbred & Classic cars," which was also quite helpful.

I am interested in getting another Renault R5TS car, I am currently in Johannesburg, & may
possibly go to Tanzania in the near future. Spares for the Renault R5's are scarce, especially
body parts, but one can get most mechanical parts, in South Africa.

How is the spares position for these cars, in the U.K., & also in other parts of Central & West
Africa ? Does Renault still make spares for these cars, especially the body parts, such as
fenders, door panels, boot & bonnet lids, etc.? I have been trying to get in touch with the
Renault Agents in Dar es Salaam, but they are difficult to locate on the WWW.

Are there any good used spares dealers for Classic Renault parts, in the U.K. ? I want one of
these cars to use on the bad roads in Tanzania, they have good suspensions & plenty of
ground clearance. I had a Renault R5TS, before, & it ran very well, in spite of being a rot box. I
have learnt that if one buys a dud old car, it can become a bottomless pit, in respect of
expensive restorations.

I look forward to hearing from you, in due course.

Kind regards,
Lance Bishop.
