I have found being able to apply for my road tax disc for the Chevy from the DVLA via the internet a really useful and time-saving facility, although I grant you its not for everybody.
Tonight when I applied for the RTD I discovered in addition to the usual pages there are two new sections - one containing my car's MoT history and the other its insurance status. I checked them out and sure enough there they were, but I've got to be honest, whilst a great supporter of progress these make me feel a wee bit uneasy - silly I suppose.
Try it for yourself - you can either click on the DVLA's Apply for Road Tax
icon, then go to the paragraphs at the bottom for the linked pages.
Or just go directly to the web sites contained on the page above -
MoT History
Insurance Status

Just checked my MOTs for the Range Rover and it confirms what I have been told by the previous owner.
The vehicle was owned by the last person for 8 years and he works abroad most of the time, some years it never turned a wheel.
In 2005 the mileage was 59,874, in 2006 it was not used in 2007 the mileage was 61,632 and in 2008 it was 62,877. Today the mileage is around 65,298 so I have done more miles in a year than the previous owner in almost 3 years _________________ ROVER

The most frightening thing is the police can now hack into anyones computer without a court order. The ramifications of this are awful considering they can also walk into the houses of parliament and arrest an opposition MP.
Whatever your politics... Be very, very, afraid.
Sorry about the political content Rick, I shall shut up now _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |

I had a new broadband installed a few months ago and had a couple of teething problems which needed rectified.
I called my provider and with my permission the chap I was speaking to on the phone took over the controls of my computer, from 400 miles away and navigated around my computer using his mouse to move my cursor, he made a couple of adjustments to the router and that was it sorted. To say it was spooky is an understatement _________________ ROVER

Back to the original theme: So why if you apply for your RTD at the good old PO do you have to leg it there with an arm full of bits of paper?
