Worried about where the pennies are coming from? I’m not.

Although it’s not been one of the better days in my ‘spam’ box I’ve done pretty well.
The Reverend J. Eboha of Nigeria can arrange for me to receive $4.9 million. A generous sounding lady called Loise Gary Reed (location unknown) is offering to share her inheritance with me: this amounts to $500,000 (chickenfeed.) Finally, a benefactor in Sierra Leone promises me $7 million for some trifling service he wishes me to perform. For such a poor continent Africa would appear to be awash with unclaimed money.
I’ve not yet taken up any of these generous offers as I have been too busy sorting my fishing tackle, for when the weather improves but if pennies get tight; it’s nice to know there is so much help available.

This can be quite serious. Friend of mine who is pushing 62 and unable to get any form of job here applied to several countries to teach English as a foreign language. He received a job offer ($60,000 a year) from the Dubai Ministry of Labour, even without an interview Shocked Desperate as he is for a job, he paid them $750 via Western Union Shocked Shocked for his work permit and residency visa. They were then asking for more fees when he showed me the e mailed paperwork. All very convincing except the address they were coming from was .tk - which is a group of 3 tiny pacific islands near New Zealand. He is of course now $750 (£560) poorer and still has no job.

As they say, there is no fool like an old fool

We all need to remember the old saying - "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is". Keith D

A healthy distrust of "furriners" may have been the key to British success in the past. 'Beware "Geeks" bringing gifts.' may be the case now. Rolling Eyes
