In photo 21 of 41 on the first batch of photographs is that really a Ford 100E Anglia hiding under the mods? _________________ Keep Torqueing,

There seems to be plenty of moderns in the background. Are they allowed to import cars now? |

There are no new cars in Cuba other than those for rental. Cubans cannot buy a car, other than a so-called vintage car, however should a citizen excel in something, medicine, sport, ballet etc. they may be given a motor car to use, not own, but on their death the vehicle is repossessed by the state.
The other "moderns" are those left behind after the break up of the Soviet Union when the Soviets had to abandon their economic aid to Cuba - these cars are thus pre 1990.
Regards

Pic 21 is the one that had me guessing too Bri....
Is it or isn't it a 100e?
Roofline, grille, doors - Yes But look at the door handles and the wings - such a lot of trouble for a one off!
Is there any record of these Fords having been built under licence somewhere? Mexico, Argentina, Brazil or somewhere?
If so, those parts would be well worth importing to make an interesting 100e restoration.
Wonder what the interior is like and what sort of engine is in there. |

I see that you have the same thoughts as me.
I wonder if the body tooling was sold off in the same way that the Morris Oxford, the Vauxhall FE series and the Rover SD1 were all sold to India and the Maestro to Bulgaria?
Does anyone know? _________________ Keep Torqueing,
