Strange how the deity is always responsible for a miraculous survival but never the circumstances leading up to the need for it? Must be that devil chappie to blame Twisted Evil

Don't know why they took the p**s out of McGonagal so much, but then I have never understood the yardstick poetic brilliance is judged by. Confused

down a dark and distant lane we chose to drive
our ancient motor (just us, a bit past five)
when deep within the bonnet's shelter
arose a din of ruin and helter-skelter
and it was there among the timeworn alders
that the engine truly began to falter.
a bit more spark, feather the clutch
and blip the throttle (OH! too much!)
with a sigh and a gasp the old girl died
and we had to push her off to the side.
no torch; no tools, no cell phone or brolly;
it was "shank's mare" for us, by golly.

mine, all mine.

That's great! 62rebel. I shall see if I can get the old creative juices flowing and have a go myself... be warned, we may be may have started a mind-blowing new thread. Shocked

Just found my first attempt at verse a couple of years ago. Written in a rage after fishing off a local seafront car park in the company of the souped up Corsa brigade.

ASBO Drivers.

Insistent Thudding bass filled speakers
Hateful rapping ugly voices
Dressed in Peugeot Vauxhall Mini
Damaged brains from sound and fury
Free from censure free from law
Rulers of the streets and car parks
Banshee wails from girls escorted
Blowing Horns long after midnight
Fractured peace in land of plenty
