Can this guy drive a car. Great British Drives has been great so far but I wouldnt let him drive a pram ! The poor minor traveller must need a clutch by now and the Zodiac had a bit of gearbox abuse as well. He is also one of these annoying middle of the road drivers and he cuts corners Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Richard Wilson did mention that he hadn't driven a car with a manual gearbox for many years so he may not have been the best choice as presenter. I thought the Minor sounded as if it was only running on three pots.

Haven't seen the programme but if it's like many of the others it will be dumbed down to appeal to a wider audience. They probably removed a pluglead on the Morris to make it sound like an 'old car.' Confused

I jumped into my sister-in-laws Suzuki Swift to move it and it felt soooo rough. I said to her that I felt it was only running on 3 cylinders and to bring it to my place and I would check it out. When I opened the bonnet I found only 3 plug leads Embarassed Embarassed It only has 3 cylinders.

Hi
Good ear you have there then, 47jag.

I saw a great engine the other day.
V20 48 litre. normally operating at 1500rpm

Hoping to hear one running soon.

It might have been a better progamme if each car was from a different decade.
1920s Bullnose Morris (only 3 speeds for him to make a bog of)
1930s Austin 7 ( so he realises how powerful a modern car is)
1940s P2 Rover (a freewheel would surely help him out)
1950s Anything column change.
1960s Triumph Herald?

But who would lend Mr Wilson their car?

He did have a column shift car (Ford Consul/Zephyr) and it always seemed to be in second.

Maybe it's worth putting it to the BBC?
Although there are plenty of other makes & models of cars they could use.

We watched the repeat on BBCi, interesting series. Cool We found it amusing when the 3 goths went for a ride in the Morris Minor, a bit different to the Tri-CHevy they were used to I can imagine.

Trust me Giggles, having owned a Morris Minor and currently owning a 1957 Chevy the difference between them is how Rodney in "Only Fool's and Horses" would put it ...................... cosmic! Laughing

I totally loved the bemused look they all had on their faces as Richard spluttered to a halt - they made the show for me.

Scotty.
