Hi
Looking for a door hinge, the part that goes onto the actual door, as oposed to the bit that goes on the pillar. Have got back to base metal on my spare drivers door this morning, alot of keg, but was pretty sound underneath, not sure why someone had filled it so thick!
Anyway, weldy weldy tomorow around the bottom, might make a bottom section up, and let that in, and also a little welding around the rear side of the door, to support the ash framing, to be made. Then the door handle section, has a little needed, and the area around the missing hinge will need a new section letting in. Wanted a hinge first really.
Then a bit of sanding and smoothing, a skim of polly over the welds if needed, if it is not too bad, I will just leave them showing, not that bothered.
Want a complete door to put on, all painted up so once it is on, with new pins, it stays on! Then I will have the passenger door off, and do the same, but I don't have a spare one of those!
Then a dose of primer.
Cheers

Hi
Took the passenger door off today, and sanded it down to bare metal, what a mess! Well it is relativeley sound, but it has been welded in the distant past by someone, and by god, there must have been 2 gallon of filler in it! Used a cleaning fleece on the grinder, then went to a grinding disc, then a flap disc, and finally another fleece disc. Finishing off with a wire brush on the grinder. The ruddy wire brush caught on the end of the door, ripping it out of my hands, into my lap, I quickly moved and it fell to the floor! Thinking how close that was, it was still buzzing on the floor, and has very nearly worn a hole through in my new work boots!
Anyway, got to decide on what to do with it this week.
Then can get my two doors painted in final colour. Then onto the bonnet!
Cheers

Hi
Right, now have two stripped doors, ready for paint prep and primer, the grill is off, and half way through stripping the paint. Had a wire brush on the grinder, but it shed all the wires, so went to buy another, the usual shop closed at 1pm today, so went to B&Q, there was over £20 difference in price, so didn't bother! Have stripped the bonnets, so thay are ready. Going to hopefully take the wings off tomorow, and strip them, although I remember the wings are in a terrible state, patches have been welded in all over the place!
Then I will make a start on stripping the cab paintwise, removing the windscreen and wiper of course.
Cheers

Hi
I have stripped the spare door, sow ill be painting that one, and keeping the old door with the orriginal writing on it. Then hopefully redoing the writing on the new door, may just do it on the drivers side, and then leave the passenger side blank, or do something for myself on the passenger side.
Keep finding lots of the blue grey paint and under the other paint it is alot brighter than on that door. I mean almost sky blue.
Cheers

Hi
Glad someone else removed it or I would have had to save that, and replacing that part would be a nightmare! hehe
Took the wings off, and stripped them as best I could today, need another wire brush for the grinder to dig the last bits of keg out, to see if they are holes, or coving welds. seems everythign is fairly solid though.
Also took the canvas and frames off the back, and have undone the bolts holding the back on, just need to drop the fuel tank, wich means, seats out, cab floor out, fuel sender out etc. be set ready to acces the engine fitting too then.
Here are a few pics:-
Then this is the blue paint I have been finding:-
Cheers

Hi
Quite like that blue, but it is a bit brighter than that on the door, not sure which to go with.

Hi
The passenger door is the only one I have stripped and that was full of filler, after the whole bottom half of the skin had been replaced. So no cogs on that door. The drivers door photo'd is a spare one, as the existing one is showing the garage signwriting. I am not planning on removing that, even though the cog may well be just below.
Cheers

Hmm, well progress, I have lengthed the pickup, just needs finishing, pics later will show what I am trying to explain! hehe
Found my spare rear spring, bit rusty, so cleaned it up, and greased it up, just need to find my NOS shackles I had them the other day, put them safe thinking, I will be using them in a week or two, but can I find then!??
Will try to remove the old spring at the weekend, if I can find my sheckles, will pop the new one on, if not I will make a start to stripping the back, and cleaning that up.
Tomorow or friday evening, I will try to remove the drivers door, then get the paint coulour matched on Sat morning, if the place is open, then will see what they have, celly or 2 pack and decide then what primers etc I need.
Cheers
