Hi

Just seen a TV program where a guy of about 18 was trying to use a hammer, he didn't actually know how to!! He was hitting a nail with the side of the head, is this not obvious, think I was doing this before I could walk, much to my parents dismay.

How clueless are some people!!??

Cheers

Dave

Thats why it's good to see those young guys going to restore the Fintail. I am glad to see that some want to get their hands dirty and get stuck in. Too many youngsters are not into anything but PC's and x-boxes. We had to mend things or go without. Whereas today, they throw it away and buy a new one.

I blame the jobsworth who did away with refuse tips. When I was a teenager I had a great bike, equipped with lightweight frame, racing wheels, 3-speed sturmey archer gears, dyno hub etc etc, all scavenged from the local tip!!

I saw it myself. Like most programmes of this type it seems dumbed down to the pits.
I cannot believe they could find such people ready made. I think they give them stupid lessons or, maybe in extreme cases, a frontal lobotomy.

The popularity of 'soaps' brings me to the conclusion viewers don't like to see people who are brighter than themselves.

I know, I know. If I feel that way why was I watching it myself? Dunno, I must have been too tired to switch it off. Embarassed Embarassed

Or was it that without an 18 year old to help, you couldn't work out how to use the remote control Very Happy

Unfortunately, this malady is more common than you think Sad
I have a relation, who shall remain nameless, who can not screw in a lightbulb!I kid you not,as I'm always going over to do it for him.And for some reason,he seems to go through them like it's going out of fashion.
My late father in law was a press operator in a big shoe factory, but he also had very limited practical skills. If he had 3 nails,a hammer and a picture to hang on the wall,he would end up with 3 bent nails and the picture sitting on the sideboard! And he was born in the 1920's.So it's nothing new.
That's why I've always tried to teach my 2 daughters some simple handyman skills, though with only limited success. It's easier to give it to dad to fix Very Happy
