| Hi i am not an expert on vauxhall crestas but is the actual timing mark viewable with the moter turned to tdc manually if so high light it with twink or white paint should look like a ball bearing that will make it more readily picked up by the timing light the timing lights are normally set onto the number one cylinder spark plug also it maybe that the mark is covered with oil the other option is to set the timing statically using a light bulb or voltmeter check the web on that one.If the moter is running rough points to check air leak in manifold, slow running jet blocked, air leak in carby, over rich mixture, worn piston rings, worn valve stems or guides, weak exhaust valve springs.Hope that helps rustyreks. |

Didn't you post this a while ago, either here or on another forum?
The 3.3's will run rough if a couple of plug leads are mixed up, which was a problem on one that I bought once.
Check also that the distributor cam is opening the points on all cylinders, a common Vauxhall fault.
If everything seems OK, reset the timing from scratch using a degree wheel on the crank pulley, starting with no. 1 cylinder. |
