After abseilling down the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool yesterday, we went back via the National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, where this interesting piece of motoring history is on display
It's a 9hp tow path tractor, used for pulling unpowered narrowboats which were usually towed by horses or a motornarrowboat built by Wickham (the same company that built rail vehicles), registered in 1960 and last taxed just five years later. It was discovered in a disused Air Raid shelter in a car park in Colney Heath |
