The body number is stamped on the transmission tunnel at the very front.
The chassis number is usually on the passenger side chassis rail near the front of the engine. My 1932 Seven has it's chassis number on the passenger side chassis rail underneath the body near the rear of the engine. (and therefore impossible to read with the body on the car!) In addition, there are two small plates rivetted to the passenger side of the firewall (bulkhead) giving the car and chassis numbers.
Many Austin Seven chassis have no number stamped into them! It is often neccessary to remove the paint completely as the stamping is so light, that it is filled with paint and invisible.

On our '37 Ruby, the chassis number is on the o/s chassis rail, next to the engine, and there is another one on the side of the toolbox on the nearside under the bonnet of the car. On the driver's side this box holds the battery, on ours we use the nearside one for storing tools in
I suppose the locations differ depending on the model of Seven, Chummy, Box, Ruby etc. _________________ Richard Hughes |

Rick,
Immediately behind the handbrake opening. Mine is on the top of the tunnel.
