Hi, If this is in the wrong forum....sorry
my daily driver - a Mk1 Ford Mondeo Ghia (almost a classic, well maybe one day in the far , far future) has a broken back bumper (thankyou MrsS) I am trying to find the colour of the car , it is metallic blue, and has on the VIN plate - the colour D5. All good so far, however, none of the touch up paints or aerosol cans have paint codes even close, and rely on names such as "petrol Blue" I have seen a lot of Mondeos in my colour over the years, so it is not rare, but without the name I am stumped. I have searched the interweb in vain, so I thought maybe someone here might know, or might point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Having just today got my Isis Blue 1993 Mondeo back from the garage after its clutch centre plate started to disintegrate I'm hoping to keep it too, for another 125K miles. Like your's both my front and rear bumpers have been cracked by my wife in supermarket car parks.

Apparently if you phone your local Ford dealer and give the Parts Dept your registration number they will tell you your car's colour.

Halfords (and maybe others) should be able to mix paint to your paint code and supply it in an aerosol. The local one did it for me a couple of years back and it was 100% spot on.

I must admit that I wrote off my first Mondeo on an icey road one morning.
It stopped from 50 mph to 0 in the space of 6ft having collided with a crash barrier. My steering wheel was at 90 degrees on impact and the stupid air bag did nothing for me other than burning my wrist and pullover with its explosive gasses, but apart from that I was very impressed with my "crash test". The radio was still playing and the doors all opened and closed normally and the central locking still worked so I then went out and bought the current one. That was 12 years ago. It was still running on its original factory fitted exhaust up to 95K miles and likewise the rear tyres.

40-50 mpg comfortable, quiet, capacious and totally reliable (not to mention cheap spares if you ever need them).

Peter
Thanks - did as you suggested, nice man at Ford's said - that's Petrol Blue!
but I have to say - cheap spares? - I nearly had a coronary when my local autofactor told me sparkplugs were £5 ......EACH! That would be 25% of the value of the car. Laughing
