I may have mentioned my impending holiday in the Midlands in a previous posting.
We set out at sparrowfart, assembling at the M2 Medway Services. As we usually cross the channel on our holidays, someone decided the Woolwich Ferry might be a stylish way to enter that strange land north of the Thames. Bad idea. Only one ferry was operating, the other having sprung a serious oil leak. The one-hour wait was fraught with discomfort as there was no loo and no duty free available on board.
We soon realized that north of Watford was made up almost entirely of motorways. Dicing with lorries the size of an ocean liner and probably driven by a mad Serbo-Croatian was a little intimidating in my 40-year-old Sprite.
We reached Towcester, well on the way to our destination and spent an hour gridlocked. We eventually arrived exhausted at our accommodation near Atherston.
First class place with cover for the cars.
Here is the full fleet infesting a castle somewhere. Don't remember which one. They're everywhere.
Spent a day on a canal boat and found on old Reliant Ant being used as a fuel bowser.
Saw a model 'Y' Ford on the A5, loaded with picnic gear and doing a geed 50mph. Didn't have camera though. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |

You didn't also encounter another waterways Reliant owned by another adventurous forum member by any chance?

Can't be a real canal vessel, it doesn't have a decorative funnel on top! Is the waterborne Reliant amphibious?
The Reliant Ant looks familiar - although I haven't been there for years, was the photo taken at Stoke Golding? I live about four miles away from there |
