As referred to in my 'Aussie Tour' post, some vehicles at Caboolture Heritage Village are resident there and some had arrived for a machinery display for the following day. Here are some pics-





















The photo below is of a Chamberlain tractor. These were an Australian designed and built machine, the first one famous for participating in the Redex Round Australia Trial in 1955 and 1956. Not many tractors can manage 60 mph!




One of the reasons for our visit to Caboolture was to attend the Abbey Medieval Festival. Of course, not much motoring activity there, but this was spotted outside the main gate.





Activites at the Festival commenced with a bang.



There were some transport-related items..



...and a blacksmith with attractive assistant to manage repairs.



Here are two military version, one horsepower Land Rovers, along with their drivers, involved in combat.



After spending some time in Caboolture, we made our way home via inland highways, pausing at the Gunnedah Rural Museum where there were more interesting examples of machinery, but more of that later.

very interesting thanks! the ute at the top, is that badged as a Hillman or as a Commer?

fordson halftrack? is that a roadless conversion?

Rick- I'm pretty sure that the Ute was wearing Hillman badges. The same vehicle was sold in Oz under both Hillman and Commer.

Buzzy - My father bought a Fordson Major in 1950, just after we arrived in Oz. He bought a rubber tyred version, but I well remember the sales literature, in fact I had it squirrelled away for some years, and it showed both a steel wheel version as well as the half-track. So the Half-track was definitely a factory option. If you study that photo, you can see the rear mudguards of another Major and that one has the steel wheels, but all of the studs (grips?) have been removed.

Ah right, I didn't realise it was a factory option, I only thought roadless, as a friend has a fordson with a roadless track conversion. Now the new owner of Roadless lives just down the road from me.
