Need to paint the steering wheel on my hunter, some of the paint has faded leaving it looking an ugly greyish colour (more like as if it was very filthy).
It should have been satin black originaly!!

Any suggestions what paint to use??

2 coats of Hammerite smoothrite works well of you degrease and flat off - if you cannot get satin just use 1600 W/d wet to take shine off

It will last several years before it needs redoing - I use on my Land Rover steering wheels which become sticky when damp

thanks phil, smoothrite has been suggested on another forum I frequent already, do you think its better to brush it on or spray it on, would prefer not to have any brush marks on it!!
I do beleive that hammerite is also available in spray cans so it should be fairly easy to buy a can and spray it !!??

Does it need any primer or just use the top coat after sanding and degreasing?

It brushes very well but spraying may give a better finish though at least 6 coats may be required as it goes on thinner and runs easily.

Make sure it is left 6 weeks to fully harden before flatting off to give final finish
