Go on then, why is that? As a kid I always knew them as the Capri and the Classic, what's their problem with the Consul Capri? Confused

That brings back memories. I worked as a kid during the holidays at a chicken battery house and the owner had a Consul Capri that rusted out. I remember he welded the floor up with corrugated iron! Incidentally, this was one of the first battery houses and we used to change the hens every year in one of the four batteries but for some reason became attached to one hen which we secretly moved on to the next battery so she didn't become chicken paste. She died a glorious death in the end; we found her dead with blood everywhere and an egg which weighed 9 oz outside the cage. I t was a double yoker with another shell inside with yet another double yoker, so four eggs in one. Poor girl...........

I remember launch night of the Ford Consul Classic and Consul Capri at Service Garage Barnsley.

It's ok to nit pick on names. (boring) but the Mk1 Capri was not even a glint in the designer's eye.

The public called them Classics and Capris

I remember once passing a "Capri" on the road to York, the trunk lid had been removed and it was transporting a huge chest of drawers.
There were ropes over the roof and down to the front bumper.
Needless to say the car was going fairly slowly and had a very "nose high" stance.

No digital cameras or cellphone cameras back then.
