|
|
A very sad day for "Carlight" fans.
It appears that the carlight caravan (12 foot caselette ) advertised on Ebay,is having it`s interior ripped out ,to satisfy the hungry public that visit events up and down the country.
That`s right its going to become a "Mobile Cafe "
Would carlight fans have prefered a Royale or Safari to succumb to this fate?
Is this now the" Rolls Royce" of catering wagons?
Are there any unusual photo`s of caravan conversions out there? |

Emmerson and I are quite happy that it is a Carlight being abused in this way!! _________________ Brian

im going to be controversial and say that I'm not too keen on carlights:shock:
although it's a shame to see a good example get gutted and ruined at the same time!
there is one just sat in a compound next to a scrap yard in Malton, North Yorkshire, it doesn't look as if its used still although its in nice condition - i've left a couple of notes on it asking if its for sale and never hear back from anyone |

It is not controversial, and I am not going to disagree with you.
I can admire the craftsmanship in a Carlight, but I too do not like their styling. As was said on here recently the front looks as if they are looking down their noses, and for me the rear styling is just too fussy and unco-ordinated.
As a parallel in the car world, I would cite Bristols from the 70's onwards. Beautifully made but horrible to look at! _________________ Brian

Great shame to see any classic van go this way when there are plenty of modern vans out there being scrapped.
But I agree with BrianM - better a Carlight than a proper van! |

Now I wonder if the wife would notice if I stuck a deep fat fryer and a serving hatch in her Nyala. Steve |

Now here`s a thought an Airstream burger and chip van, would go down a storm at 1950`s Americana Event`s.
The exterior styling is ok if kept polished, but the interiors don`t do it for me, all that vinyl and formica leaves me cold. Easy to keep clean though, all that chip fat.!!
More of a British traditionalist myself, (1930`s>1960`s) real timber and soft furnishings, that cosy cottage feel found in 1930`s vans, and that affluent down your nose look, found in Carlight`s. |

I pass that Bluebird all the time Moggy, what a doss hole!! Id LOVE to rescue the poor thing, I forget the model but its a late 1950's static, there was one in really good condition for sale on ebay earlier on in the year in the Highlands, I once stopped to put a note on the a19 one asking if it was ever for sale but there was so much broken glass everywhere i didnt want to bust my tyres so carried on LOL |

I've just been looking at a bluebird pathfinder, if the owners decide to let it go should be a fun recovery job, the only route in and out is now along the canal towpath and the a frame has dropped off the van. I've left a note in hope the owners get in touch. Steve |
