Hi all,

I'm researching this old Austin dealership:

Charles Clark & Son Ltd
Chester Street, Shrewsbury

As far as I know it was a BMC/Austin garage, but perhaps sold other marques too. Does anyone know this garage, or remember it? Is the building still there? I found a reference online to a Hartwell Charles Clark, but whether they operate from the same building or not I don't know??????

thanks, Rick

Rick. By about 1955 they were part of the Rubery Owen group of companies, are you looking for the original Clark ?

They took over an earlier company.

The old garage may have been lost completely in 2004 by flood defence work.

Warwick Uni appear to have old records, maybe something there.

Hi Peter

Interesting photo that isn't it, I wonder if the garage in that pic is on Chester Street or perhaps elsewhere in the town..sometimes dealers had more than one place in a town, perhaps the case here I'm not sure..

Whilst looking at information on the Austin Healey 100S, I spotted that one of the 55 built was ordered by Charles Clark, car AHS 3703.

See here for details:
