Can anyone help with this question?? I thought PA Crestas of that era were single headlamp, but maybe a dual lamp was an option??

-------------------------------------

hello
just hoping you can help, i was trying to confirm that the 1959 cresta with the fins and oval rear lights did on first production have small twin headlights with chrome hoods over the units later replaced by single headlights ,i know i saw one on the way home from school in that year it belonged to a lady hair stylist but every one a forum i am on tells me they never did have twin lights but i definitely saw this pink and green cresta with them .
thanks for any help on this
Derek.

Certainly both late & early model pictures I have all sport single headlights.

The 1960 S3 Humber Super Snipe was the first UK car to have twin headlights

It certainly wasn't a production option, you would need to do some serious metalwork to fit twin headlamps.

My Dad's boss had one new in '59, and it had single lamps.

Production twin headlamps didn't appear until the PC model of 1965. There was a Radford converted PB model that had twin lights, but the PA did not, and could not without major surgery.

May I suggest, and this is purely a theory, that the chap actually saw a PA fitted with the optional twin fog and driving lamps?

Rumour (and some sketch evidence) implies Daimler were going to use a cresta body with twin hedlights as a new model to replace the v8. There was a prototype built but no-one knows where it went?

Definitely no production option for twin headlamps.

Possibly someone confused the headlights with the side lamps/indicators.They were "twinned" on the early PA's.
