I know I haven't finished the Alvis yet.....but......today I've been offered a 1950 humber super snipe needing full restoration for a very,very cheap price.
I'm going to have a look at it in the morning so could do with knowing....
are these cars any good? (they don't seem to sell for much even in good condition).
and also, are parts easy to find / obtain?

hi rick,
yes I've access to a garage now though its about 5 mile from my house  so the plan is (if we get it) to put the humber in the garage till the Alvis is finished then, as the garage is so far away, put the humber on the drive and crack on with it, just as I did with the Alvis 
I'm hoping the humber isn't too bad but I'll take the camera and get some pics for you all to look over

isn't the Humber a fair bit longer than the Alvis?? from memory the '50 models are vast

From a quick look around, the 1950 Humber Super Snipe could be between 15ft and 16ft long.
Huge...
The Alvis TA looks to have been 174 inches or 14ft 6 inches.

mmmm....not sure rick  , I'll find out in the morning when I go to see it, now you've said that, I'll have to see if it'll fit on my brothers trailer aswell

well I'm now the (dare I say proud?  ) owner of this......... 
1950 humber super snipe.....
I'm not right sure what to do with it yet, but all parts are in boxes (he assured me they're all there) and some kids smashed the windscreen so I'll be needing a new screen if anyone has one!

Hi & welcome to world of Humbers 
Have a look at the Post Vintage Humber Club website www.humber.org.uk
Regarding spares the wonderful Roy Anderson (tell Fiona & Mike sent you) and the delightful Humberman aka Derek Hart are the men to speak to (contact details should be on the Humber website.)
There are that many early mark Super Snipes about, there is the imfamous Humbersarus hot rod mark 3 Super Snipe (which I do love)

hi rick,
the Alvis is 14 foot 6 inch and the Humber is 17 foot (both measurements bumper to bumper) and it will just about fit on our drive when the Alvis is finished and moved.

Congratulations Jason!
A suggestion! Park the Humber safely in the garage and lock the door and finish the Alvis before getting going back to the Humber!
Without a large workshop or a bigger driveway, you'll go crazy commuting between the two!
Humber parts should be a lot easier to find than bits for the Alvis. Good luck and keep us all informed on your progress!

Don't count on it!! Spares for the later Humbers can be hard tof ind, let alone the earlier ones.

well, just spoke to the bloke we bought it off.....he's digging out all the parts that he removed from the car as we speak (bumpers, radiator grill, seats, door handles, chrome trims etc etc) and the original 4 litre, straight six engine and gearbox.......
I forgot to mention earlier, the car at the moment, has an american v8 engine installed but the original engine and gearbox is there....just not sure of the condition of it
I'm off to collect all the parts in the morning and planning to collect the car at the weekend (if my brothers trailer is available)
in reply to keith......I'll be locking it all away in my mates garage till the Alvis is finished which is now getting closer every day
