|
|
I'm not trying or expecting to set any records here, but I imagine that some Forum Members dedication (infatuation?) with old vehicles might be judged by the combined ages of the vehicles tucked away in their garages or sheds.
I think my collection is very modest, consisting of a 1951 Austin Hire Car awaiting re-re-restoration (that SHOULD be two re's), a 1968 Herald Convertible also awaiting re-re-restoration and a 1957 Triumph Speed Twin motorcycle scattered in bits around my garage.
On the road, all taxed, tested and insured, I have my Gentry which is 25 years old in its present form, though it is essentially a Triumph Vitesse first registered in 1968, a 1956 Triumph 5T Speed Twin and a 1959 Triumph 5TA Speed Twin.
I make that 295 years of motoring history. I don't think it fair to include my 12 year-old Rover 214 (the daily hack) or my infant 5 year-old Kawasaki W650 motorbike.
If this prompts anyone to add up the ages of their vehicles they may have a shock! _________________ Quote from my late Dad:- You only need a woman and a car and you have all the problems you

Don't worry Richard, you still beat me with one at 70 and a 25 year old push bike. (That is unless we are including the owner's age in the calculation. )

424 years, spread over 11 Rovers- 2xP4's, 2 SE's 6 P6's and a Series 3 Landy. Only the P4's and one SE are goers, the Land Rover goes, but is for jobs around the property only. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

I'm just an infant in this group, 52 years with the '57 Chevy.
Can't really count the TQ midget as it's basically a reproduction but the Crosley engine and drivetrain would be about 59 years.
My '79 GMC rustbucket pickup is too new to count. |

A damn site older than me! hehe
I make mine 121, if we include push bikes, old ones I mean, then 331, and if I can include the penny then it goes up to 461.
Ages spanning 13 years up to 130 years old.
I am a mere 23 years young, so the history has 438 years on me!
Cheers

1950 Humber (Pullman limo) only just bought and needs restoration
1997 Rover 214 (bubble shape hatchback)

| I'm going to cheat since two are replicas but going by the ages on the V5s I get 245 but if we use the age the car was designed to represent we can arrive at 259. Still not old compared to some here! |

Rick, you seem to know the Oz mentality !!
Now, let me think
Dodge 4s, Studebakers, Morris Minors, Buick, Lancia, Holdens and a few others comes to around 850 years (Most not going)
I know a bloke over here with a collection that I recon if you added it up it would cover the whole period back to the time of Moses ! |
