|

Hi Everyone,
I don't think I've spelt leisure right.....Hmm, not sure; anyway,
There is a place where I can put a battery in my cadet under the bed - so do I just buy one, and connect it?
Then I can run the 12v things from it, like the little lights?
Sorry, I'm not very technical, and this is new to me; we have a hook up, but I'd like to use the battery too, for 'away-from-it-all' camp sites!
Many Thanks,
Liz |

| You need some kind of relay from the alternater to the new extra battery to charge it, |

| It depends on if you are using the leisure battery for a long period or for heavy use, ie tv. We run ours for up to a week running 12 volt flourescent lights and a small tv for a week, then charge it when we get home. Charging at home I have invested in a charger that will charge car and leisure batteries, mine is from Halfords and its worth the extra money as it automatically shuts down so no overcharging, best wishes Steve |

| Our battery tends to last us all season , so usually only has 1 charge per year we also have a spare battery shoul the main one die . We have the extra socket fitted to charge the battery while travelling but never actually use it . Our battery powers the lights and a portable dvd player if we use it . |

As has been said, a Leisure battery will last for at least 20 days of lighting, radio, tv, dvd.
I recharge mine when I get home, but you can fit a second plug socket to your car that will charge from the alternator, or use a solar panel charger while on site.
I would make sure that the place where you store the battery is well ventilated, which is why most of them are carried in the external locker over the tow bar. _________________ Brian

Sorry you are all barking up the wrong tree
Under new government guidlines sustainable energy will have to be used by pre 1970`s caravans from april the 1st.
The environment agency has brought out a white paper.
Page 56,paragraph 23,states the following.
"All classic and vintage caravans will be required by law to fit a wind generated device to generate electricity for consumption by the user of such stated vehicle."
Enfocement officers will be visiting vintage rallies and shows throughout 2010 to enforce legal powers.
Grants are available, but are means tested.
Ebay are now selling vintage wind generators. |
