After last year driving around with a top speed of 45 in my Chevy Pickup I've fitted a 1960 diff (straight 10 bolt swap) which should give me a 50mph cruising speed this year Smile

The only thing left to do is get the prop shaft remade with a 60's yoke at one end, the original at the other, and a new straight shaft in between with another 1/4 inch in length.

I have found a reasonably local prop-shaft maker in Bonnybridge but wondered if anyone had any other suppliers and any ballpark costs this could cost me.

Cheers

Try speaking to GKN Driveline - they converted the Dodge prop, can't remember the price offhand but they did a thorough job, including machining it to accept new off-the-shelf UJs.

Is your problem that the U-J's are different sizes ? If so you can get conversion joint........ for around $25-$40
This is a great site for anything to do with American drive shafts and the link takes you to the page with the conversion joints

Thanks, but the overall prop is now a bit short - and always had a bit of a buckle in it so a new one is needed.

The most important thing to remember when modifying tailshafts is to get them accurately balanced after all the work has been completed! If you don't, it'll shake the car apart!

Thanks Keith, that's the problem I have just now as the prop has a run out of 9mm when the recomendation is under 1 Very Happy

I've contacted http://www.driveshaftuk.com/ and they estimate £150 delivered which sounds reasonable to me.
