This was going to the crusher.A contractor had been called in to clear premises behind a church in London. Two cars were saved from their FATE!!!
I secured this 5 minutes after it went on the market,PHEW!!
Ok it will not set any speed records, but when did you last see one Question
Since getting it home I have been busy working on it this weekend.
The underside is like a lorry chassis Exclamation Exclamation
I changed the fluids, cleaned out the fuel system and cleaned up the ignition system.
With a new battery connected she arose from her long slumber and settled into a nice tick over.
Very Happy
Excellent oil pressure and no noises. Very Happy
Amazingly the clutch was not stuck and the car moved under its own steam.
All the electical items and ancillaries work.
Before being laid up new brakes and an exhaust were fitted.
The brake system was bled through and the brakes adjusted.
I will MOT it as it is then attend to the bodywork. Very Happy

It is all complete, the previous owner started to rub it down.If this had not been done, the original paintwork could have been cut and polished for the time being.

The interior is all complete and in very good order, this will clean up well.
Only the fitment of new underlay and carpets to carry out.
Has anyone an original handbook or manual, or info on these cars Question

Good looking car, Gresham.

As I mentioned before, I have a WSM

It seems to cover all Minx and Commer versions of the same basic car.

The Californian gets a mention.

.

The vehicles seem to share all of the same mechanicals, and most of the same body panels etc.

If you need some specific information, let me know and I'll scan the relevant pages and send them. It would not be cost effective to post the whole book to you from Australia.

Good luck with the project,

Dane.

Interestingly enough the saloon and drop head weigh about the same.
Namely 931kg and 934kg respectively and your coupe weighs 991kg which does rather suggest that the extra chassis strengthening that makes the saloon and rag top weigh the same is also built in to your model that has the extra weight of a steel roof.

Peter

p.s. I think there is something a bit odd about the steering wheel/manette in your car. It appears to have a second switch at 6 o' clock and doesn't have
the Rootes symbol in the horn button. I think it should be more like the ones
shown here. (although they appear to have some wrong colours in places.)
