HI,JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SHOW YOU MY 1971 CHELTENHAM(WATERBUCK I THINK,PLEASE SAY IF IT IS'NT)WHICH I HAVE RENOVATED/MODERNISED.
JUST TO GIVE YOU A BIT OF BACKGROUND I HOLIDAY CAMPING IN MY TRAILER TENT, AND HAVE ALWAYS SAID THAT IF I EVER UPGRAIDED TO A CARAVAN, BEING A CARPENTER I WOULD BUY AN OLD ONE, GUT IT OUT AND REFURBISH IT TO MY REQUIREMENTS.
WELL, BACK IN SEPTEMBER 2009, GLANCING THROUGH CARAVANS ON EBAY, I SAW THIS CLASSIC CARAVAN, FELL IN LOVE WITH IT'S RETRO LINES AND JUST HAD TO HAVE IT!
IT WAS ADVERTISED AS TOWABLE WITH ROAD LIGHTS WORKING AND A COUPLE OF MONTHS WORTH OF WEEKENDS TO RECTIFY A COUPLE OF DAMP PATCHES AROUND THE WINDOWS, SLIGHT CORROSION ON THE CHASSIS AND A COAT OF PAINT INSIDE AND OUT.
ANYWAY TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT I PAID OVER £800 (AUCTION FEVER GOT TO ME - I JUST HAD TO HAVE IT!!!!!!!!) FOR MORE THAN JUST A FEW WEEKENDS WORK!!!

IT DOESN'T LOOK TOO BAD IN THE PHOTOS BUT IT WAS.

TRUE TO THE ADVERTISMENT IT DID TOW (VERY WELL). BUT ON ARRIVAL HOME THE OTHER HALF WAS NOT HAPPY TO SAY THE LEAST. SHE EVEN PHONED THE LOCAL SCRAPYARD TO TAKE IT AWAY BUT THEY WANTED PAYING.

WELL A MONTH WENT BY, THE WIFE GOT OVER THE INITIAL SHOCK AND WE DECIDED TO START WORK.

AFTER GUTTING THE INSIDE (SORRY TRADITIONALISTS) I REPLACED THE BACK OF THE CHASSIS, ALL THE WINDOW AND DOOR RUBBERS, EVERY INSIDE PANEL, SEATING, BUNK BEDS, KITCHEN, ELECTRICS, EVERYTHING (IT'S NOT CHEAP IS IT!!!!)

AFTER TWO MONTHS OF SANDING, PRIMING AND FILLING AND PAINTING THESE ARE THE RESULTS.

WELL THAT'S IT AND WE'VE JUST COME BACK FROM OUR FIRST HOLIDAY AND THE WIFE LOVES IT. THE KIDS LOVE THEIR BUNK BEDS AND THE VAN HAS HAD MANY FAVOURABLE COMMENTS, ONE COUPLE EVEN ASKED WHERE THEY COULD BUY ONE THEY THOUGHT IT WAS BRAND NEW. THEY NEARLY DIED WHEN I TOLD THEM IT WAS NEARLY 40 YEARS OLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANKS FOR LOOKING.

Utterly amazing, I dont usually like modernised interiors, but I think you have done an awesome job which looks FANTASTIC !
