Can anyone help out this emailer, who contacted me yesterday with some questions about the D Series Ford lorries of the early 1970s. I don't know as yet whether this is a flatbed, a tipper, or a horsebox, so this would influence a fair asking price I reckon.

Hi

I have been offered a ford d607 on a 1972 plate, That seems bodily in very good condition, though it has stood for several years.

I am wondering if you can answer me some questions

1) how available / findable are the parts

2) I also have a D709 on a s plate, are the parts compatible?

3) What sort of money should I be looking at paying for it? (know this is a
'how long is a piece of string' question!)

4) What were the common things to go wrong with them...If I get it checked,
what are the most important/ vunerable mechanical areas to get checked?

Many thanks

hi the d607 and d707 parts are basicaly the same most parts are easy to get at the moment but i have found they are getting harder to find. the ushaul things wrong with them i have found are the cab (rot) and most seals if it has been stood a while. the running gear is ushaly quite robust. as for price i if reasonable condition id say around a thousand mark if rough scrap price if you need to know anything else just pm me i have 3 d series at the moment a 707 a 12 tonner and a 2417 6wheeler and a shed load of spares Laughing hope ive been some help
