The B is for Buick so it has the Rover (Buick) V8. My friend had the Coupe but the brakes left a lot to be desired, he ripped the floor out of it when he failed to stop for a round about.  _________________ 1936 Morris 8 Series 1

Plenty spares for them, nothing you can't get.
I had one as a daily driver many years ago when they were regarded as old cars and apart from the 16mpg fuel consumption it was a great car.
Rust is the biggest problem with them _________________ ROVER

I am biased of course - the Rolls Royce is the rich mans's Rover.
Brakes should be excellent if set up right - huge power assisted front disks and rear drums
The V8's are the fastest and noisiest and use a Rover British made modified GM light alloy V8 that dates from last 1950s-early 1960's.
IOE straight sixes are quieter smotether and better built as pre BL

I'd forgotten how good the six cylinder version (which seems to be treated as the Cinderella) is.
A mate brought one round the other day fresh from a bit of restoration and whilst undoubtedly slower than the V8 they are a pretty impressive car.
The engine was inaudible at tick over and the lack of any vibration pretty amazing especially considering the age of the design.
I've heard the build quality was better and the door closing reminded me of the old railway carriages,a satisfying clunk that just begged you to open the door again just to hear it a second time.
Whilst I enjoy my P5B I freely admit to feeling a bit envious. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |

I ran a P5 3 litre as a daily driver in the early 90s. Lovely car but very expensive spares back then and the rust was horrendous! They can be easily bodged to hide it too, not uncommon for cars to start breaking in two at the bulkhead due to floor and chassis rot. Look for the gap between door and front wing, it should be even, a lot arent with the gap being bigger at the base of the wing/door... thats not good. |
