Can anyone supply a copy (or know where I can source one) of an electrical circuits diagram for this bike? Particularly the charging system.
The bike has belonged to a friend for years, but has not been used because it will not charge.
The dynamo has been rebuilt and tested, but there are too many wires for the regulator. Which I don't think is original type because the owner recalls something about taping one wire up and not using it - but which one? The regulator terminals are numbered, but I have no clue about what the numbers signify.
The bike is in very good condition and it seems a shame just to be propping up the wall in his garage.
I am searching the internet, but I am running out of search terms to use. No success so far except wiring diagrams for just about every bike and car BMW ever produced - except this one!
Hoping, Jim.

Wundaerbah! (if that's how you spell it).
Problem solved! Don't understand the Lingo, but the diagram is clear enough. I wish I had asked first without wasting hours looking myself.
Cheers,
Jim.

Thanks Roger,
There is a handbook on the site Riley 541 put me onto, but it is in German.
Fortunately the (separate) wiring diagram needs no translation. If friend Pete wants the two or three dozen pages of the handbook translating and printing he can use someone elses ink! Oh, and time - I have spent hours today trying to find a diagram. I think Riley 541 probably prevented a suicide!
I will give him the links though.
Jim.

I have been told I can speak German.
Mind you I have no recall as I was well stewed.
It was a cousins 60th birthday and family from Germany were there.
I had been having, supposedly, many a long conversation with them in their native tongue.
I wondered why they started speaking to me in German the next day Laughing Laughing Laughing

Maybe I did pick up the language in the six year out there with the artillery. Very Happy

Here's how I found it:

1955 BMW 25R/3 is the same in English and German, the German for 'circuit diagram' is 'Schaltplan' - I used http://babelfish.yahoo.com/ I then did a Google search for '1955 BMW 25R/3 Schaltplan' using Advanced Search to search in German. That gave these results http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=1955+BMW+25R%2F3+Schaltplan&hl=en&num=10&lr=lang_de&ft=i&cr=&safe=images from which I found the page with the circuit diagram. Total time: about 3 minutes.

Glad you didn't top yourself Jim!

Bitter! And I suppose that is wrongly spelled! Or should that have been danka? Cleverer than me anyway!
Once again coincidence amazes me! I posted this for the whole World to see. Hoping someone in that wide World could help! Where does the answer come from? Just one and a half miles away by road and probably less than a mile if I was a crow!
Jim.
