I payed about £350 for my modern Renault Kangoo to be insured for the last year, (High due to being 24), having turned 25, I thought it might have come down, but had a letter through, "We are please to tell you the renewal this year is £490"!! I did a "Go Compare" and a "Confused" and the answer was £370, has insurance gone up that much that my insurance has gone up over the last year, not down?
What to do! Supose I will have to pay it unless anyone has any ideas!
It is due in 9 days, so not much time now.
Cheers

You could go to insurance companies who are not listed on go compare. I think Direct Line are not listed.
You tend to find that claims are on the increase every year and that is why the premiums go up.
I tend to stick with the same company. I have been with Direct Line for years and the premiums have went up slightly and I have never claimed.
44 years driving without a bump but it makes no difference. I just pay it. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

The bit I don't understand is my insurace should be coming down due to my age, I am getting older, dad is paying £130 or somethin silly, he has a bigger car too, I know he is alot older than me, but has simmilar no claims, he is on full 70%, I am on about 60% I think, so where's the difference?
I will try direct line though, worth a try!
Is there any multi car polocies, that me an dad could take out, enabling us to drive any of the cars, I mean between me and him we have 8 different polocies.
Cheers

Hi Dave
Are you getting quotes for owner/driver only?
The 35 yr old son of a friend, managed a £100 reduction by putting his mother on the insurance as a named second driver.
Admitedly she is an instructor but that doesn't usually cut any ice with companies, so try getting quotes with an experienced other driver (dad) named as 2nd driver. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Hi Dave, I think you'll find that van / business use insurance has gone up
quite considerably. I paid £349 last year 2009/2010 for my business use citroen relay lwb. However after contacting various insurers trying to whittle it down I have ended up paying £429 this year 2010/2011....
and I'm 43 !!

Dave, have you tried a real live broker rather than the internet. I was insured through the AA but they put their prices up a lot last year. I am now insured through CJN Insurance Services of Tenbury, who cut the AA quote by £120 and I am now paying £25 less than last year I'm sure there must also be brokers in your part of the world who could be worth contacting. BTW they have an advert in their window offering insurance for traction engines. Now..........

Dave, simple solution.
What you need, instead of one of these:
