You Tube is great for a bit of nostalgia.
I have just been watching Kathy Troccoli and the Beach boys " I can hear music" I have never heard this version before. Its just brilliant. Theres also Lonnie Morgan and The Beach boys " Dont worry baby " equally brilliant.
When you look at the crap on the X FACTOR who will be listening to their records if they ever make any. They kept out the best singer in Gamu.
Anyway back to the 60s music...................still the greatest innit. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Love 60's music but can't say I'm a big fan of the Beach Boys. With me it's Motown - More or less anything will do, and as loud as possible.
Don't forget there's a huge scope to 60's music and I tend to think in terms of later 60's and early 70's material.
I sometimes fantasise about the 'right' CD compilation to go with each car in the fleet.
While we're here and broadly on-topic I think..... What would be on your own all time top 50 compilation album? |

I preferred Stax to Motown and still do but my tastes also included folk, psychedelia, blues, rock and jazz. There seemed such a variety of good music in those days - which is probably why I haven't found much to add in the past few decades apart from world music.
My all time Top 50 album? It would take me years to listen to everything again to decide but there would have to be some Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Vanilla Fudge, Love, BB King, John Coltrane, Bert Jansch, Fairport Convention, Sam & Dave, Oscar Peterson, John Mayall, Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker, The Yardbirds ('cos I was at school with them), Janis Joplin - that'll do to start with. |

Thats a hard one 52 classic.
Stones..Beach Boys..Shadows..Cliff..Byrds..Dylan..Searchers..Roy Orbison..Animals..Ivy League..Sir Douglas Quintet..Dave Clark 5..Tremeloes..Kinks..Yardbirds..Mindbenders..Gerry and the Pacemakers..to name but a few.....I was never a lover of Elvis or the Beatles. The only female singers I liked were Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |
