Managed to get hold of an old Elswick, might be a Hopper. Its probably not as old as it looks. Its an Ex RAF bike when the officers got them rather than a car as they do now. Its been painted a few times but its black, still on the Raleigh Record tyres and white tipped rear mudguard, original cotterpin crank, pedals and sprung seat, white handlebar grips still intact.

It needs a new (old) stem as its got an alloy one and has one alloy wheel. Will be stripping it repainting it and sorting the few bits it needs and the brake cables, it will go well with my '60s caravans even if its a bit too new it looks old Laughing

Its like this one, I dont have any photos of the actual one at the moment. Anyone know anything about them?

That would be a good idea but it hasnt got one, its a single speed gear, all the RAF ones I worked on over the years were single speed. Looks old that will do for me Laughing

Mick

Please let me know where you get your brake cables from.

I have a 1949 Raleigh in absolutely original untouched condition. It has some chrome rust, but I don't intend to re-paint it, just do a sensitive restoration.
At least one of the brake cables is beyond salvation & I'll need to replace the tyres & tubes but I'm hoping that's all.
(I'm trying to find a photo!).

Oh yes, the headlamp & saddle are probably beyond it too!

I can get "replacement" brake cables, but they're not identical to the originals, which I'd prefer.
