I was reading on the Glasgow Guide website that Glasgow museums are missing the front off a tramcar and many tramcar artefacts including 50 rolls of film of trams in the 60s. The person who donated all these parts is severely distraught as these items are irreplaceable. You would think that if you donated to a museum your donations would be safe. Not so in this case. It seems that theft is the culprit. Sad Sad Sad

50 rolls of film would appear to offer a considerable challenge to stuff up your jumper and walk away with, but the entire front of a tramcar!! the mind boggles.
Once again it implies that anything that you can't afford to lose (either technically, commercially or emotionally) needs to be very securely bolted down these days. SAD!

My apologies gents, but I can't comment on this subject due to Glasgow Museums confidentiality requirements.

A friend of mine is a keen metal detector and has lent some very rare pieces to a museum. Some of the pieces have gone walkies and it could not be anything to do with the public. I don't think any more comments are necessary.

That is a very unfortunate situation......

I hope that it is sorted out quickly.
