Although most will be dubious about its classic credentials, I bought an 80s? 'Freedom' 10' caravan last year. It is made on Poland, entirely from GRP, so it should have no rot or leak problems. One problem it does have is the headlining: It is similar to the material used on older cars, but has a coating on the back. It has sagged and discoloured very badly as it has on other Freedom caravans I have seen.
I am not sure of the reason for using this material: is it to absorb condensation? or perhaps the body flexes so much a more solid ceiling would be a problem?
I am thinking of fitting some 3mm ply or hard board to keep it in place and banish the dark gloomy atsmosphere the headlining causes... But why didn't the manufacturers do it in the first place? Am I missing something here? _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |
