|
|
Hello everyone.
Due to the disastrous stainless exhaust fitted to my car, and the fact that the idiot who fitted it refuses to give me any money back, I now need the cheapest Rover 2000SC auto exhaust I can get. It doesn't need to look pretty, and can be mild or stainless, but I do need a full system for as little as possible. I'm really quite stuck, and although I hope to purchase a good stainless exhaust in the future, I just can't afford it at the moment because of the fact the fitter of my car's exhaust refuses to give me any money back, despite it being awful, and not remotely fit for purpose.
Please, if anyone has, or knows of such an exhaust system, please let me know and I'd be most grateful for your help.
Thanks in advance

Contact Trading Standards. The exhaust did not appear to be stainless steel as it was sold to you and it wasn't fit for the purpose it was sold for (didn't fit).
I'll keep an eye out for an exhaust anyway. |

I have arranged a meeting with trading standards, but we highly doubt that I'll ever recover my money from the chap.
Needless to say, I'm still after an exhaust. Please get in touch if you have one for me. |

Hi, I realise that you are having problems with the system but might it be possible to alter it to work?
I often use parts from various sources to make up systems for my pre war cars.
Sleeve adaptors and short sections are usually available from local factors.
Why is the system unusable?
Regards Kels. |

Hello Kels
I've examined the system thoroughly, and it's really so bad that it's beyond the stage of being altered to work. Every can is leaking. The pipes follow entirely the wrong course, and there are holes in bits of the pipe too. Here are some photos of it.
I don't think I can do anything with what's there as it's such an awful mess. |

If it's any help. the 2000TC exhaust system isn't particularly complicated.
Some years ago I had two of these here in the USA. Parts were pretty much unobtainable.
A local exhaust company made up a new system from plain pipe - generic silencer etc. The only part we used from the original system was the bit over the rear axle & even that could have been bent up from scratch.
If I remember correctly, we used a "bullet muffler" under the floor (replacing the "expansion chamber"?) & a conventional silencer at the rear.
Certainly not original & I think I lost a little ground clearance, but it wasn't much money & sounded nice!
Edited - later the same day!
After a few hours reflection, I realised there's little point to this post, as it describes essentially what you've already been through.
My apologies. _________________ Mike - MVPeters at comcast.net

| Real shame you got ripped off like this Frazzle, one can see from the photos this is clearly not stainless as its already rusting and sooty deposits where there are holes. The garage must be stupid to not realise they have cocked this up big time. |
