Hello,

In the past I have requested information from DVLA,of names and addresses of previous owners of my classic cars.

The fee was £5.00,any they would send you photocopies of records held by them of the vehicles previous owners.

I have tried searching for a relevant form to fill in and send off but have had difficulty finding the right one.
Can you still do this and do they provide this service?

Any info greatly accepted.
Regards
Gresham.

I have filled in the form and sent it off. Very Happy

If it does not reveal anything you owe me a second class stamp Exclamation Exclamation

A car I restored a few years ago got me thinking about its former life.
I found a previous owner from the 1970`s who told me he swapped it for a set of golf clubs Sad (must have been Tony Jackaline`s)

Another owner I traced who previously owned one of my cars, told me he blew the engine up on the new M1 Motorway, and thought it had been scrapped years ago.

Just shows you how disposable these cars we now cherish once became,in the 60`s and 70`s.

I bought my Austin 16/6 in 1962 from a chap who worked at Pinewood Studios, he used the car every day to commute to and from work. Well that was almost 50 years ago now, and it was whilst watching that old favourite 'Geneveve' on the box before Christmas, that I saw the previous owner's name appear on the credits. A quick search via 'Google' soon had me in touch with the chap who sold it to me - now living in America. He was amazed that his old Austin was still around and delighted that I was still its owner. He will be coming over to the UK next month and wishes to see his old car again. How about that then?

On section 4 and 5 of the form it asks for information of why and how you are going to use the information, I would be interested to know what you guys put so I can fill my one in along the same lines

I found with the DVLA that their records not surprisingly date only from when the details were computerised. Did not help me with the 1928 Sunbeam I had nor were the Surrey records for the period preserved. Best records were with the Sunbeam Register which took me back to 1950 but that was it annoying.
Researching my Alvis 12/50 which was sold new to Australia in 1928 I had a wonderful email this morning from a former owner who bought it in 1950 complete with photos taken then. He subsequently sold it bought it back years later and restored it. More pics of this and of the car in use afterwards also sent. It seems I might be able to get back to 1928 - just awaiting another email but some info may have to come by post. The car seems to have had a busy life and it appears was always known to its owners as KO (Ko or Kay Oh?) due to an old reg no it had worn.
Sorry if off topic but its all great fun!
