Been out on my travels again this time in the Village of Caister about 3 miles north of Great Yarmouth, another old van - is it another safari? anyway here is a street view, its been there about 4 or 5 years and now looks very dirty out side but I just love the look of these vans with their part Clerestory roofs it gives them a real 50s/60s look. Here is the street view link

Im in Scratby for a lesson tomorrow so I'l look out for them. Looking on the Safari forum (good site with at least one name I know from here) I didnt know that the Safari was made for such a long time right up to the end of 1981 now I hate to say this but I could quite get into owning a Safari as I said I just love that roof look and the classic side band in different colours, I guess that was a year thing? when I was a young lad in the late sixties early seventies my mates dad used to repaint the band on his caravan to that years colour, dont remember what type of van it was but he was almost fanatical about making it look like the latest model. The only down side is at the momment I have a company car and they dont allow tow bars to be fitted and with two classic cars already I dont have time, space or spare money at the mo. _________________ If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off |

I wouldn't try to talk you out of it Standard Steve. I have owned Safaris from the 1940s to the 1980s and they have all been useable characterful vans. My current Royale could be described by some (not me of course, I don't want Emmerson breathing down my neck!) as a fibreglass copy of a Safari. |

gillberry, I think I spotted those vans in Scratby today one by the garden centre in the front yard of the clock museum is for sale. The add says its a 1970s classic van "ideal to tow behind your classic car" only £1400, embosed on the front panal it says carlight, it dose look very tidy and very clean inside, its a two birth with the kitchen area at the back but it seems a lot of money. The other two are in a stone walled farm yard a few hundred yards down the road they seem a lot older, Ive tried to get a street view but it just misses the entrance to the farm and you cant quite see them _________________ If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off |

if you go down the side of the garden centre towards the builders yard and look ever the fench to your left they are there with a old boat you used to be able to see the roof line of them unless he has moved one to sell it , you found the other ones then |

Uncle Alec, what you forgot to say is that while Royale may have copied Safari, they also did it better! |

Drove past the house that had the Safari in the first post and after all these years its now gone, all that's there is the patch of earth where it stood, funny that after all that time and within weeks of me posting it too, hope it went to a good home and wasnt scraped I should have knocked and asked if it was for sale while I had the chance. _________________ If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off |
