I tried out my new camera this morning. The bumper on the back of the car is on there whilst I repair the one it came with which is (or rather was) badly dented and rusted through in a couple of places. The temporary one is pitted badly but this camera makes it look pretty tidy.A shady car dealers dream?.

Very smart Smile What fuel pump do you use on it, the original or a replacement electric job?

It's still using the original pump. When I first got it I had problems with much and rubbish in the fuel sytem. The pipes were coated internally with a thick varnish like substance. The car had stood for fiteen years and in the end I had to clean out the entire system.
The seats had dried out and were cracked with seams broken open.I bought a couple of odd ones and a spare front came with the car.By swapping bits of leather and restitching and loads of wax and softener they came up quite well.

Lovely car! I'm a huge fan of P5Bs and would very much like to own one someday. Is yours the P6 colour, Tobacco Leaf?

No,the colour is burnt grey, the roof is silver birch.
I had one of these (but a six cylinder) years ago but the inner wings and bulkhead were beyond repair and in those days they didn't fetch a lot of money.I promised myself that one day I'd have one of the V8s a nnd bought this about six or more months back.
Originally I thought I'd just tidy it up but some of it is so good that I'm going a bit further.
I'm pleased with it,still lots of little jobs (and a couple of big ones) to do but I think thats part of the fun.

I've always liked the look of P5s and P5Bs, if you have some more exterior shots it'd be interesting to see them Smile

The seagulls have been busy christening the car but this pic will do for now.
The water pump has sprung a leak and I'll be sorting it out in a day or so.
The car has Spax adjustable shock absorbers on the back (I didn't realise untill I cleaned the muck off the lables on them) the adjusters seem well seized and I have heard they can break off, hopefully I can free them and set them a bit softer.the ride on this has always seemed very harsh and hopefully it might soften a bit.

I spent saturday under the car with a wire brush,a can of waxoyl and a spray syringe of fluid film. The original idea was to try and cure an exhaust blow but I simply couldn't find one.Maybe it just sounds that way.I filled the sills and various box sections with waxoyl and fluid film untill it trickled out in other places,I don't really know how much good it does but it always makes me feel like I'm doing something to slow down the rust.

I plan to spray around a bit under mine sometime with old engine oil (or whatever falls to hand). It has yellow plugs here and there - eg at the bottom of the rear pillars - which I assume is a sign of Ziebart-ing when new...?

Sounds very likely:- lucky you! Cool

I notice that baconsdozens' Coupe has the earlier coil mounting (on the n\s inner wing) rather than the "thiefproof" one (with a shielded supply wire). A major advantage for troubleshooting the ignition system!
