Lovely!

Looking at the photos, isn't it strange that the windscreen wipers on a typically British car were left hand drive biased?

The September 1966 one in my family had many detail differences to the early model in your photos.

lovely car. I hated those battery terminals but as long as they are nice and tight they are ok. How old are the photos or is it just because they are black and white...but its a lovely car. Cool

When was the Triumph 2000 launched?
1963?
I would say that is brand new as delivered to a dealer. Look at the boot lid, there are no number plate holes which meant it hasn't had a number plate yet.

I'm looking forward to Inglewood giving us more details when he returns.

I used to work for Avenue Cars NW London, they had the Standard and Triumph franchise at the time.
I collected the first TR6 to be sold in London and delivered it for undersealing, 14 miles on the clock, it was rejected as it was too rotten underneath.

Yes, the car was brand new, still has the shipping plastic on the seats. The 2000 was launched at the 1963 Motor Show and this was (I think) our first one. It appears in the line-up of Heralds (see Herald thread) and they show registrations for September/December 1963. So, IMO the photo should be dated around December 1963.

I think the car was blue with a blue interior.

Hi, I had one of the early ones too, a 1964 which I had in '69. It was slightly modified wit an SAH head & cam, big bore exhaust,& twin Webers. 100mph all day long, no probs. Only pic I have was rather dark & is now grainy..

Lots of fun in the day. Cheers,JD.

I do like them especially the mark 2 version!!
Only ever saw one mark 2 over here and it was almost immaculate, used to spot a mk 1 every now and then still in daily use and a bit dog eared but its been some time now since I saw it last.
Wonder what happened to it!!

I always fancied a 2500PI, a local farmer in Norfolk had one that he used to pull his caravan.
