I have a copy of the DVLA history of previous owners from this car...

It's first owner was the Chief Constable of Devon & Cornwall police (71-74).

From what I've been told, they mainly used Fords in this force. However, This was one of a batch of 5 that was recommended from neighbouring Dorset force, who found them trust worthy and reliable.

What role this car played is unclear and un documented. The Police usually used 2500pi models? The roof box which came with the Triumph is an original 'Exeter' 70's box. There is a zip in the roof lining, so that should suggest that it had some sort of roof/beacon device fitted?

The alloys would not of been on the car when it was in service, so I guess they have been changed at some point?

That looks great, like that a lot. Do you get asked to do much film or tv work in that maybe?

It's currently registered with Tellycars & A&E comms... I've had some enquiries already with possible viewings etc, so I see if anything comes of them.

There's a short video on you tube, that makes a good demo....

I'm not sure I'd like my classic doing tv work. You can't always be there watching and who knows what they might do to it, on screen or off.

I'd think twice if they offer it a part in The Sweeney if you've ever seen those car chases Laughing

The Dorset lot had PIs (according to my brother who was there Wink )

Yours would probably have had the usual 13 inch steel rims with the 2000 hubcaps. The alloys are 14 inch Stag or from the last 2500S range that had 14 inch instead of 13. I had a PI which was 3 years old when I bought it. Reg nr: OFX (dorset) 192J

I think you could be right there..... It's not the Sweeney but the car gets a good thrashing from 1.45 minutes on....

If it did only half of what the poor 2000 did in this clip it would kill her!! lol

Yep, I know the Steels where not originals... Replaced I guess later in the 70's or 80's perhaps. Just might so if I can find some that would of suited 'in service'.

Nope. not me with the jigsaw... would'nt of minded a look at it though...
